FAQs

When can I begin sleep training on my child?

You may consider sleep training your child for naps as early as 6-8 weeks and night time between three to four months of age. However, there are many things that you can do from the first day of your baby’s life to eliminate having to sleep train or at least minimize the process.

My child is less than 6 weeks old, is there anything I can do to help her sleep?

Yes, absolutely, I can prepare a very gentle plan that will help to minimize or eliminate the sleep training process later.

I am Breastfeeding, can I still Sleep Train my child?

Yes absolutely, my methods work very well with BF babies, because my plan will never eliminate any food. If your baby needs food in the night, then they will be getting it on my program.

Is my child too old to do sleep training?

It is never too late to teach a child healthy sleep habits, although the older the child the more involved the process may become.

Does my baby have to cry to learn how to sleep?

As parents, it is always very difficult to hear our child cry. When sleep training, infants and toddlers cry to say, “This is frustrating. Why are you putting me down awake?” As parents we respond by saying, “I know you don't like this, but it is important that you learn to fall asleep on your own.” Just as we set limits on how much TV we allow our child to watch (regardless of how much they complain), we also need to set limits in the area of sleep.

How long will it take for me to sleep train my child?

The general rule of thumb is 3-5 days, but this is dependent on the age of the child and how the parent responded to the child regarding issues of sleep in the past. If your goal is to create healthy naps as well as nighttime sleep then allow two to three weeks to complete the training for both daytime and nighttime (again dependent on the child's age). Often parents begin to see results early on.

What is your philosophy?

I do not believe in letting a child "cry it out" alone. Instead, I design a program with what you are comfortable with. Sometimes this may include some crying , I would not be telling you the truth if I told you their will be absolutely no crying at all. I will design a customized plan to allow your child to learn how to sleep while you are offering love and support throughout the process.

Does your program work if we are co-sleeping?

My methods work well whether you are co-sleeping or whether your child is sleeping in their own crib.
